The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) fosters the arts in the Lubbock community by providing a central home for all of the arts in the South Plains region. The multi-disciplinary center -- bringing together local artists, art groups, and their audiences -- the LHUCA has become a hub of artistic activity featuring programs in visual arts, music, literature, film, dance, and theatre.

It serves more than 24 arts and cultural organization in the South Plains region including El Ballet Forlorico Nuestra Herencia, Llano Estecado Clay Guild, Lubbock Arts Alliance, Lubbock Community Theatre, West Texas Watercolor Society, Lubbock Film Society, and Prairie Winds Chorus.
Providing facility support through access to below-cost office, studio, meeting, exhibit, workshop, rehearsal, and performance space for both emerging and established arts organizations, the LHUCA serves as a regional incubator of the arts drawing annual audiences of more than 25,000.
Converting an existing 1968 fire station into a performing arts center, the center features a 150-seat black box theater, gallery, multi-purpose community art and education space, a lobby that can host special events and banquets, conference rooms, and all necessary administration and support staff.
A landscaped courtyard provides additional space for informal gatherings or events. An innovative space nourishing the growth of the arts and creativity, the LHUCA’s popularity with the arts community has draw art lovers to Lubbock, contributing to the renewal of the city’s downtown economic development.
