Join Our Team

It’s an exciting time to join Steinberg Hart.

Named one of Architect 50’s top firms of the year, Steinberg Hart is a global design, architecture, and planning firm of over 150 professionals, collectively committed to creating inspiring places rooted in design excellence and community. For over 65 years, we have created environments that sculpt space to shape lives in subtle and empowering ways.

Shaping lives in subtle and empowering ways

Guided by our core values of Design, Relationships, and Change, we value entrepreneurship and celebrate teammates who embody leadership and take initiative. Together, we leverage our unique talents to create value for our clients and make a meaningful impact on the communities and institutions we serve.

Who We Are

Designers, Thinkers, Changemakers

Our culture is as unique as each of our employees, and we encourage and celebrate diverse backgrounds. Many of Steinberg Hart’s most celebrated company culture initiatives, including our social justice initiative, team building, junior staff-led design reviews, participation in charity events, providing healthy snacks and care for the environment, were employee-initiated and supported by the company. Employees are encouraged to bring their ideas to the table to create a culture that we are all proud of.

I'm proud of the growth that I've experienced as part of Steinberg Hart. I was able to work alongside colleagues and friends this year to launch new firmwide initiatives that have had a profound impact on our firm culture and our surrounding communities.

Benefits

Steinberg Hart values the health and well-being of our employees and their families. Our generous benefits allow employees to plan for their futures and care for themselves and their loved ones.

Wellness

Steinberg Hart offers competitive and comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans to cover employees and their eligible family members. We know choice is important when it comes to choosing the best care for your family, so employees have the flexibility to choose their plan and doctors. In addition to our health plans, we also offer Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to defray medical, dependent care and transportation/parking costs, an Employee Assistance Plan, and a Flexible Wellness Program.

Future

Securing a financial future for you and your family is also important to Steinberg Hart. All Steinberg Hart employees benefit from a 401k plan with employer matching, profit-sharing, life and AD&D insurance, and short- and long-term disability insurance.

Time

Steinberg Hart understands that everyone needs time away from the office to recharge and enjoy the things and people that are important to them. To that end, we strive to accommodate schedules. Full-time employees are offered generous paid time off, holidays, and half-day Fridays (not standard in all offices), as well as the opportunity to work from home.

Career Development

Steinberg Hart encourages all employees to continue to learn and grow in their careers. To aid that growth, we offer a generous professional development budget that can be used towards tuition assistance, certification, or ARE, NCARB & NCIDQ licensing and examination fees. For designers pursuing licensure, Steinberg Hart supports AXP development and completion through one-on-one mentorship and continuous learning opportunities inside and outside the office. We encourage staff involvement in professional organizations, and membership dues for one recognized professional organization are covered by the company. All staff has the opportunity to participate in our Advocate & Mentorship Program, whose mission is to provide a vertical communication pathway to firm leadership and help staff achieve their professional goals within the company.

Internships

The next generation of architects & designers

Steinberg Hart’s intern program takes place annually and runs for the summer months. We also hire part-time interns during the school year. Interns gain exposure to a number of different market sectors, project types, phases, and experiences, and have the opportunity to shadow experienced architects and designers to gain a glimpse into the day-to-day of an architect’s work. At the end of the summer, interns partake in a group presentation, sharing with their offices their accomplishments. And, we are proud to have many intern alums who are now full-time Steinberg Hart employees.

Scholarships

Our scholarships at UC Berkeley and at Stanford University are awarded to outstanding students to assist with the purchase of school and model supplies upon nomination by a professor and submission of a portfolio. The scholarship comes with an offer of a paid summer internship in our San Francisco or San Jose offices. Two additional scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding architecture students attending Historically Black Colleges & Universities, awarded upon nomination by a professor and submission of a portfolio. The scholarship comes with an offer of a paid summer internship in any of our offices.

We are incredibly proud of the group of individuals who come together to form the Steinberg Hart family. We come from all walks of life and all different backgrounds, and I am confident that our diversity makes us smarter, stronger, and better designers.
