The 47,000 SF LEED Gold facility provides 40,000 SF of administrative office, operations, and warehouse space for the Sheriff’s Wireless Services and Data Services Divisions, a 7,000 SF critical data and wireless communications center for the County of San Diego’s Emergency Communications System, 125’ tall wireless communications tower, and a multi-use media center supporting the Sheriff’s Department and County Office of Emergency Services. The building features an outdoor plaza designed for employee use during normal operations, with power and communications connections for local news agencies integrated into the hardscape design, expanding the capacity of the media center during emergency events. Careful consideration was given to the building’s zoning, separating emergency response and public interface functions to allow each of them to operate without disruption. The building is fully supported by an emergency back-up power system.
