Six study rooms surround the Learning Commons with windows overlooking the quad and the student center. Collaborative learning is encouraged through the use of multi-media. Electronic information is accessible throughout the building. Additionally, studying is made easier through a self-checkout station for printed materials. The interior incorporates an open design encouraging gathering and liveliness. An art gallery, career consulting offices, Autism Center, cyber café, rare book room/special collections, and 24-hour study spaces are other unique programmatic elements in the Buley Library.

The building serves as the central location for multiple library and information technology departments bringing both faculty and students to one place. The programmatic spaces of the library compliment the activity occurring in the adjacent Student Center.
