The development also takes full advantage of its location on East Lake, China’s largest urban lake and the home of the annual winter Plum Blossom Festival. Water is fully integrated into the development, which is linked by a series of tree-lined water channels that connect all residents to the lake and maximize the value of the interior parcels. The development also includes several features that will add to the lake’s value as a tourist attraction, including a new museum, an observation tower, water fountains, floating stages and events, and botanical gardens. A system of filters is located near the tourism and recreation areas to attract more visitors and residents to the waterfront, minimize the development’s impact upon the environment, and provide a framework for a larger-scale restoration of the lake’s natural habitat.
