We are delighted to share that Harvey Mudd College We are delighted to share that Harvey Mudd College Scott A. McGregor Computer Science Center has been awarded a 2023 AIA California Design Award. Jury comments noted: "The clear and dynamic massing strategy produces a figural building that connects and engages in unexpected ways with the existing disposition of the campus."

The Scott A. McGregor Computer Science Center was recognized by the jury for Design for Integration, which is one of the ten principles as outlined in the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.

A modern jewel on the Harvey Mudd College campus, this building meets two pressing needs: new space for the rapidly expanding computer science program and a vibrant nexus for project-based learning. The building concept utilizes strategies that invigorate interdisciplinary collaboration – a key component of Harvey Mudd College’s mission.

Jury members noted the building's sustainable performance., which reflects a 73% energy use reduction from the baseline EUI for this building type. The design meets the AIA’s 2030 Challenge even before taking onsite renewables into account. The an onsite 720 kW PV system not only brings the project to Zero Net Energy, but also meets the energy needs of several buildings on the campus.
This week, we held our third annual Steinberg Hart This week, we held our third annual Steinberg Hart Day of Service! An initiative of our JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity) Group, Steinberg Hart teams once again supported @SimplytheBasics, a National Hygiene Bank. Their services help sustain the health and well-being of low income communities, people at risk of homelessness by, or people experiencing homelessness.

Each office received bulk supplies, including dental kits, soap, socks, shower supplies, masks, and hand sanitizer. We came together to sort supplies and pack kits, complete with handwritten notes for the recipients. In total, 1,000 hygiene packages were made by all the Steinberg Hart offices combined. We are proud to have partnered with such a wonderful organization doing such important work to serve our communities, and so thrilled that their national network allowed us to all volunteer. The Day of Service was a resounding success, and importantly, it was deeply aligned with values that we hold dear. #SteinbergHartDayofService

For over 15 years, the City Leaders Breakfast Series has provided architects, designers, and various community stakeholders with a unique opportunity to engage in direct conversations with key figures driving transformation in Los Angeles. In the wake of Mayor Karen Bass’ declaration of a state of emergency on homelessness. Jenna Hornstock discussed the Mayor’s actions to address the homelessness crisis and accelerate housing development in the city of Los Angeles.

At Steinberg Hart, we are always looking for new opportunities to create more affordable and inclusive housing, and participating in this discussion provided a better understanding of the City's building initiatives. Many thanks to our Director of Sustainable Housing, Ismar Enriquez, for bringing this event to our LA office. Engaging in these meaningful discussions allows for us to build upon our relationship with our City leaders and explore the ways in which our work influences the community.

We had a great time hosting the event and loved the insightful conversations it sparked with everyone who attended! Thanks to all!
