LOS ANGELES (July 13, 2021) – As a reflection of her extensive higher education expertise, in depth understanding of the interplay between academic, facilities, and resource planning, and commitment to the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and its mission, Steinberg Hart Partner and Higher Education Practice Leader Kim Patten has been elected Regional Chair for SCUP’s Pacific Region. Her term begins July 13, 2021 and will run for three years.  As a leader at the forefront of this respected organization driving institutional change, Kim is positioned to continue bringing the latest in educational planning and expertise to the benefit of Steinberg Hart’s institutional clients.

The Society for College and University Planning is a premier professional organization in the world of higher education. Regional chairs are responsible for communications with members in their regions, membership recruitment, retention, programming, and other activities that advance SCUP’s five-year strategic plan. Kim has been deeply involved in SCUP’s Pacific Region over the past decade, serving as the region’s Conference Chair in 2019, as a current member of the Campus Planning Academy and the Conference Committee, and a former member of the Membership Committee.

With a focus on championing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the institutional setting and in our society, Kim will work to advance the organization’s learning strategies, content, membership, strategic partnerships, and financial support.

“Higher education planning is at the forefront of an era that will be looking deep and reflecting thoughtfully upon the events of 2020, in an interest to strengthen and transform higher education. Now is the opportunity to make an impact, utilizing the expertise of institutional and corporate leaders that make up our collective membership to share knowledge, resources and collaborate,” says Patten.  “The SCUP Pacific Region is known for engaging and timely content that embraces difficult and important topics beyond the latest trends, and I look forward to working with the volunteer leadership team, SCUP staff, and the entire membership.”
