San Diego County Selects Steinberg Hart for the Southeastern Live Well Center

In conjunction with PCL Construction, Steinberg Hart has been commissioned to design the newly proposed Southeastern Live Well Center in San Diego, California. With over 80,000 SF of space, the $76M project hopes to provide local communities with much-needed upgrades to health and community services. The center will serve as a hub for community meetings, educational opportunities and workforce training in addition to the County services that will be available. Services that will be available include medical insurance coverage, food and nutrition assistance, family strengthening services, financial and employment assistance, public health, behavioral health, child support, restorative justice, services for older adults and people with disabilities and services for veterans and members of the military. The Live Well Center will also include a 4,000-square-foot conference center that can be used for community meetings.

A Source Selection Committee collected feedback from residents after sharing the designs to the public over the course of multiple months; and Steinberg Hart’s design incorporates suggestions and design requests from community member input.

“The community spoke clearly about the need for better outreach and engagement to all who would be impacted. I am proud to say that we incorporated this feedback to create a project that benefits all residents and we look forward to engaging the community in the final design presentations,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Greg Cox.

The project is expected to break ground in 2021 and open at the end of 2022.
