As Steinberg Hart expands its presence across Texas, veteran architect George Blume joins the firm’s Austin leadership team
Austin, TX (June 15, 2026) – Nationally recognized architecture firm Steinberg Hart announced today that George Blume, AIA, IIDA, NCARB, has joined the firm’s Austin office as Principal. A native Texan and longtime Austin resident, George brings more than two decades of design leadership experience to his new role—he has helped shape some of the most transformative projects in Austin’s recent history. He joins Steinberg Hart at a time of continued growth across Texas and will help advance the firm’s expanding portfolio of mixed-use, civic, and higher-education work throughout the state.
Prior to joining Steinberg Hart, George served as Principal at HOK, where he helped launch and lead the firm’s Austin office, leading commercial repositioning, transportation facilities, workplace interiors, and higher education projects across Texas. Before HOK, he spent more than a decade at Gensler, helping guide the evolution of the company’s Austin office and delivering a number of large-scale, mixed-use projects across the region.
Throughout his career, George has played a key role in many of the projects that have defined Austin’s recent growth and development. His portfolio includes Springdale Green, the award-winning mixed-use office campus in East Austin and Sixth & Guadalupe, the 66-story mixed-use tower in downtown Austin. His work reflects a longstanding commitment to creating places that balance design excellence with client needs and meaningful community impact.

George joins Steinberg Hart as the firm continues to expand its presence across Texas. For more than 30 years, Steinberg Hart has partnered with clients throughout the state, and since opening its Austin office in 2020, the firm has significantly grown its footprint across Central Texas and beyond. Recent and ongoing projects include the recently completed Pearl Springdale, newly-awarded University of North Texas Student Housing & Innovation Center, 6th and Walsh in partnership with Manifold, the City of Georgetown Public Library, the Texas Tech University School of Music, and a vision plan for the Austin History Center.

In his role as Principal, George will join the Austin leadership team, spearheading transformative mixed-use developments in Austin while continuing to advance higher education projects across Texas, including work with the University of North Texas system.
George earned a Masters of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
