UC Riverside has broken ground on the Undergraduat

UC Riverside has broken ground on the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Facility (UTLF), designed by Steinberg Hart in partnership with McCarthy Builders. This state-of-the-art building will provide lecture halls, classrooms, labs, and a dance studio all helping to foster collaboration across the College of Natural & Agricultural Sciences, The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and the Bourns College of Engineering. The UTLF complex will serve as the new campus gateway building. Its flexible interdisciplinary spaces, and welcoming courtyard, will enhance student experience and promote cross-discipline learning. We're excited for the opportunities this project will bring to students!

We’re excited to announce the groundbreaking of the long-awaited Oakhurst Campus in the Sierra Nevada foothills, designed to provide crucial access to higher education for the surrounding communities. Located over 45 miles from the nearest college, this 31,000-square-foot campus will serve 300 students, faculty, and staff, with programs in natural sciences, arts, engineering, business, and childcare. The design blends indoor and outdoor spaces, reflecting the picturesque natural surroundings with its central courtyard, and a multipurpose patio off the Library/Community Room with views of the Sierra Nevada peaks. This transformative campus will foster academic and social engagement, strengthening the community and offering new opportunities for growth.

We’re thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of California State University-Dominguez Hills Phase IV Student Housing and Resident Dining, a major step toward providing affordable housing for 288 students, fostering a connected, supportive community with shared lounges, collaborative spaces, and an indoor-outdoor courtyard. Following the successful completion of the 506-bed Phase III student housing project, Phase IV will include the university’s first resident-centered dining facility, offering affordable, healthy meals with indoor and outdoor seating, connecting the central campus to the residential area. The project exceeds energy performance goals and represents a strong investment in equity, inclusion, and student well-being.

Today, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo took an exciting step toward enhancing student life by breaking ground on a transformative student housing project that will add 4,100 new beds and renovate 1,300 beds over the next ten years, enhancing campus living and increasing housing affordability and accessibility. As the largest student housing development currently underway in the state of California, the Steinberg Hart-designed project will feature nine new buildings and renovations to six existing Red Brick buildings. The project will create smaller “neighborhoods” and pedestrian pathways to foster a stronger sense of community, with sustainable materials that reflect Cal Poly’s commitment to eco-conscious, high-quality housing. The new program will leverage innovative volumetric steel modular construction, a first on a CSU campus, enabling a systematized and streamlined construction process over the next decade. With Phase 1 set to be completed by Fall 2026, this project will be a cornerstone of campus life, blending modern design with university traditions to support student success and belonging.

@ribajournal featured Steinberg Hart’s innovative design for @childrensmuseumec, The Children's Museum of Eau Claire, a centerpiece in the City’s ‘cultural revival’. The article highlights the ways in which the project blends sustainability, locally sourced materials, and community to create a vibrant space for learning and play. Partner and lead designer Malcolm Holzman shares, ‘We really wanted the architecture to play a big part in the experience of the museum – with the trees, the views, the daylighting and the bright colours,’ he says. ‘We wanted the building itself to be as exciting, compelling and delightful as the exhibits.’

Envisioned as a refuge in a bustling city, Steinberg Hart's Nine Thousand One is a five-story boutique building centrally located at the intersection of L.A.’s cultural and creative cores, where West Hollywood’s vibrant Design District meets the iconic boutiques, parks and galleries of Beverly Hills.
