Meridian and Agrihood Projects Win atAIA Silicon Valley Design Awards

Two Steinberg Hart-designed projects were honored at the 2025 AIA Silicon Valley Design Awards. The AIA Silicon Valley Design Awards recognize the outstanding achievements in architecture and design in the Silicon Valley, in addition to celebrating professionals who contribute to the framework of the local built environment.

Meridian has been presented with a Merit Award in the category of Architecture. Creating a gateway to downtown Sunnyvale on a 1.4 acre site, Steinberg Hart’s design for this new 90-unit development with Related California integrates affordable and developmentally-disabled housing options into the neighborhood through scaled massing, community-friendly site design, connective landscape and an improved pedestrian experience. Amenities include a community room with kitchen, computer lab, outdoor courtyard, underground parking, storage lockers, and shared laundry room.

The building is designed to maximize sustainability and energy efficiency through a range of thoughtful strategies. Natural ventilation and daylighting are key design elements, reducing the need for mechanical cooling and artificial lighting.

Santa Clara Agrihood has been awarded a Merit Award in the Urban Design / Master Plan category. Santa Clara Agrihood is the Bay Area’s first planned, designed, and built integrated agricultural and residential development, with the basic site organization and programming tenet of honoring the original use of the land and preserving its legacy. The site is thoughtfully organized to blend urban living with productive green spaces, creating a seamless connection between the past and the future. The design incorporates working farmland, community gardens, and open spaces that celebrate the site’s agricultural roots while fostering sustainability and local food production. Residential areas are arranged to enhance walkability, encourage social interaction, and provide access to shared green spaces, ensuring a vibrant, connected community that reflects the region’s agrarian heritage.

Along with a 1.5 acre produce farm and community gathering center, this mixed-use development provides housing for people of various ages and incomes; promoting a true community environment. Developed out of a series of public meetings, the Agrihood an active, vibrant and attractive place to enhance and support the surrounding neighborhoods. Meant to connect to and complement other public spaces in Santa Clara, the resulting design features an innovative mix of open spaces and shared amenities.

Congratulations to our valued partners at Related California, CORE Builders, Core Companies, Farmscape, and everyone who helped to bring these impactful projects to life.
